“This is a great opportunity for me because the team has shown that it can be the right place for a young driver”

Francesco Pizzi will make his debut in the FIA Formula 3 with the Charouz team in 2022. The 17-year-old from Frascati is currently the only Italian driver confirmed at the start of Formula 2 and Formula 3 and could remain so in the upcoming season. Pizzi appeared on the minor formula stage with an impressive roster of eight wins and ten podiums in the 2020 Formula 4 UAE, winning the title on his debut. Pizzi’s moment of form then continued in Formula 4 Italy, finishing second with three wins and seven podiums.

In 2021, Francesco remained tied to the Van Amersfoort team, making his debut in the competitive Formula Regional by Alpine. Despite an uphill start, Pizzi conquered a good fifth place on the circuit of Zandvoort, returning to the points zone also at Spielberg. These results placed him tenth in the rookie ranking.

Still 15 years old, Pizzi had already tested the Formula 3 Dallara in two days of tests in Jerez at the end of the 2020 season with the MP Motorsport team. Before making his debut in the championship, he will have the chance to test the car again from 2 to 4 March in Sakhir, the scene of the first round on the weekend of 18-20 March. Before the second round in Imola (22-24 April) there will be four more days of testing on the circuits of Jerez and Barcelona.
