From thursday May 20th to Sunday May 23rd the Formula Regional Championship by Alpine arrived in the Principality of Montecarlo for the third appointment of this season. A unique place which evokes fascinating races that have remained engraved in the hearts of motor enthusiasts. In this fabulous place Francesco clearly shows having taken the measures with the new championship. His improvement is evident in his way of driving, not affected by errors anymore the weekend in Montecarlo. Running in Montecarlo is particularly different from other circuits and Francesco soon understands that. In fact on Friday , day of session of qualifications, he wakes up at dawn. On Thursday he arrived nineteenth in the free tests making time mark 1’ 32” 114. Despite the unpleasant wake up call and the division of the 33 pilots into two groups because of excessive traffic on the track, Francesco is very focused on and gains the ninth row for Race 1 and this result is confirmed in Race 2 . Once the qualifications have been filed, the stakes become interesting and Race 1 starts on Saturday, 22 nd. At the beginning the weather is rainy , but it doesn’t slow the race thanks to advent of the sun and the wind. The Roman talent fights, drives smoothly and doesn’t make mistakes in a track full of difficulties , as known, where undertaking attempts are very often an end in themselves. The first competition ends with a fifteenth position. But it must not be misleading as Francesco is eighth among novice pilots, giving proof of greater confidence in the new championship. The winner is Isaac Hadjar, from France; second Zane Maloney from Barbados, third Paul Aron from Estonia. On Sunday atmosphere is electrifying and the scent of Formula 1 that runs immediately after is in the air . Under a sunny and cloudy sky , the wind caresses Montecarlo, but the track is wet again. At the beginning of the of Race 2 it happens a multiple accident involving Nicola Mariangeli, Dino Baganovic, Gregoire Saucy, Tommy Smith and Brad Benavides. This carries a red flag and the stop of the race for a while. But Francesco does not loose the calm , virtue of the strong, and is not influenced by the accident. He approaches the first ten positions , safe careful driving and juggling curves of the Principality. It is proved by the ascent from the ninth row until the twelfth position, seventh among the rookie. Race 2 ends with the victory of Zane Maloney who preceds Isaac Hadjar and Hadrien David. Montecarlo is a very important step for the Roman young talent’s season. He is getting bigger as time goes by and he does not fear Formula Regional championship by Alpine any more. May is at the end of the line and Francesco will run in Le Castellet next weekend. Ready to live other exciting moments with him?
See you on 27th May!
